Eyrescroft Primary School is surrounded by Bretton Woods and the local park. We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds and playground facilities for all of our children to access as well as making the most of our local amenities.
At the far end of the school field there is a pond and wildlife area which is frequently used to enhance the curriculum.
All of our classrooms are fitted with smart boards and the children have access to netbooks and laptops for research, ICT and programming.
Foundation Stage and Key stage 1 classrooms have access to outside areas to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
Every year group has access to an additional workspace for focused learning and group work.
Teachers strive to ensure that the learning environment is stimulating and welcoming for all children.
We use our sports grant to provide the children with qualified sports coaches who extend the children’s experiences of different sports encouraging both team work, sportsmanship and adopting healthy lifestyles.
Sensory Circuits take place every morning in the Sports hall. In addition to this we also have a sensory room with specific sensory equipment which is tailored to meet individual needs.
Our music and drama room feature extensive storage for a range of musical instruments as well as a stage area for music and drama performances and teaching.
Peripatetic music teachers visit our school on a weekly basis and take small groups of children for lessons in violin, flute, clarinet, guitar and drums.
The children’s kitchen area provides tailor made facilities for children in every year group of the school. Opportunities are provided to cook in small groups on a regular basis during which time children weigh out ingredients, measure liquid quantities and time cooking of cakes and biscuits for example.
Children are also able to share together and eat whatever they make.
Library Area and Study Room for Key Stage 2 Children
In addition to book corners in all classrooms we also have a centrally located library area where children can browse and retrieve books themselves.
Adjacent to the library area is a study room with access to ICT equipment specifically for our older children to encourage and develop skills of independence and self motivation in preparation for the expectations of secondary school.
