LETTER TO PARENTS/CARERS
Update on phased reopening of primary schools and nurseries
I write to you as the Chief Executive of the Elliot Foundation, which is the charity that runs your child’s school.
You will probably have heard about the government’s plans to ease the Covid-19 lockdown measures by partially reopening primary schools and nurseries from 1st June. You may also be worrying about how safe it will be for you and your family if your child returns to school.
At the Elliot Foundation it is our job to ensure, as far as possible, that your child and all our staff are safe in school. Although the Covid-19 epidemic is a very complex situation and there are lots of misleading stories circulating in the news and on social media, I will aim to make this as simple as possible.
If we believe that the risk of infection is too high for children and/or for staff, then we will not reopen your child’s school.
I know you will want to have more details about how we will reopen schools but I must ask you to bear with us a little. Your child’s safety is at the front of our minds in everything we are planning and we need a few days to work through these plans.
In the meantime please ignore any communication on social media or in the local news about who goes back to school when; it will only be guess work. We will be in touch again soon with more detailed local plans and you will have the opportunity to ask the school’s leadership team about concerns that you may have.
Stay well. Best wishes.
Hugh Greenway, Chief Executive
