Parent Cafes

At Highlees we are committed to developing positive relationships with our families. We recognise that parents play a vital part in supporting their child’s learning. We want to equip parents with the knowledge and skills, help develop their own confidence and self esteem so they can help and support their child’s learning at home.

Parent cafes are based on the principles of adult learning and family support and are a way of encouraging parents to become involved in their child’s education.

We will be holding parent cafes each term; for all ages. These events will be held at different times of the day to give all parents the opportunity to attend with the aim to enable and empower parents to support their children’s learning.

The Parent Cafe will start with parents taking part in an activity with their children in the classroom. Following this, parents will be invited for refreshments and will take part in a dedicated session led by an experienced member of staff with a clear focus, eg. spelling.

Parents will leave with practical ideas on how to support their child at home.

Following each parent cafe, we will publish details from the event on this page.
